# Fire & Ice

> Fire & Ice is an independent, research-led buyer's guide to home cold plunges and saunas. It is the one site that covers both, paired — ranked on running cost, specs and published evidence, never on brand payments.

Independent guide, not a retailer: we do not sell equipment. We rank on cost-to-run, build specs, warranty and the published research, then link out to the merchant. We earn affiliate commission at no extra cost to the buyer, and it never changes a ranking or a verdict. Contrast therapy is genuinely useful and genuinely oversold, often on the same page — the job of this site is to say which is which, cite the research, and flag the hype.

Founded by Craig Fearn, Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH) and of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), and Wellbeing Ambassador for the Institute of Directors (IoD, UK). That public-health background is why the site cites primary research and refuses to overstate it.

## What each brand actually covers

Warranty, returns and delivery terms for eleven brands, read off each brand's own policy pages on 19 August 2026 and re-checked on a 90-day cycle. - "Lifetime warranty" means three different things among brands advertising one. Almost Heaven's is limited lifetime on the structure, with the heater at 1 year on elements and 5 on other heater parts. Clearlight's parts cover is lifetime for indoor residential use but the labor to fit them stops at 7 years, and outdoor or commercial installs drop to 5. Sun Home's is capped in its own document at 7 years, "the expected useful lifetime of these components", and its cold plunges are excluded at 1 year.
- Peak Saunas states a lifetime warranty in a single FAQ answer and publishes no warranty document, so there are no exclusions or limits to read.
- Sweat Kingdom's warranty is 3 years from delivery and covers saunas; cold plunges are not mentioned in the document at all.
- Plunge Chill's own pages disagree with each other: its warranty page says 2 years, its FAQ says 1 year. Both were live on 19 August 2026.
- Ice Barrel warrants the barrel for 3 years and the chiller for 1, and the chiller's stated remedy is to credit the purchase price rather than repair or replace.
- Divine Saunas publishes no warranty of its own and passes the maker's through; Dundalk's 5 years is parts only, so service and labor are the buyer's.
- Redwood Outdoors' 1 year excludes accidents, weather events and acts of nature, on a product built to stand outside.
- Return terms range from no fee at all (Plunge Chill) through 25% (Plunge, Almost Heaven, Clearlight, Sun Home) and 30% (Ice Barrel, HigherDOSE saunas) to no returns whatsoever on a traditional sauna (Divine). Almost Heaven accepts returns only on unopened goods. HigherDOSE gives 120 days with a prepaid label on blankets and mats, the most generous term of the eleven.
- Sweat Kingdom's 30-day home trial excludes anything assembled, installed or showing use, and return freight is the buyer's at a stated $750 to $1,500, so it covers changing your mind about a crate rather than trying a sauna.
- Delivery: Sweat Kingdom charges $450 flat, curbside, contiguous US, stated for saunas only. Plunge Chill and Peak ship free. Divine ships free to most of the US, with Alaska around $1,500 and Hawaii around $2,250.
